Using The Samsung Captivate
The Samsung Captivate is one of the best medium priced smart phones you can buy these days in the United States. If you buy it with a contract, you can have it for just under $200. It is interesting to note that the Samsung Captivate is part of Samsung’s Galaxy S line, which means there are several different clones of what is essentially the same phone, but marketed toward different cell carriers. While the Vibrant works under the T-Mobile network, and the Fascinate and Epic 4G run with Verizon and Sprint, the Captivate works with the AT&T network. Regardless of which you choose, you will want to use your Captivate in a variety of places, including in school settings. Perhaps the biggest pro of using the Samsung Captivate in school settings such as on a college campus is that you will have immediate access to the internet no matter where you are. Today, the world is more connected than ever, and things don’t stop happening just because you are not around to hear about them. As a result, it is important to have a way to stay in touch with the daily happenings in life, both on and offline, and a smart phone such as the Samsung Captivate is a great way to do that.
Of course, perhaps the best way to keep in touch is through desktop computers that you can find in any computer lab, or even a personal laptop. However, nothing will be the absolute portability of having a smart phone. And the fact that it’s a Samsung Captivate should make it an even better choice.
Perhaps the biggest drawback of using the Samsung Captivate at school isn’t a deficit of the phone itself but a limitation of the people who teach the classes themselves: college professors. More and more professors these days have begun to set rules in their classes restricting the degree to which cell phones and smart phones can be used.
This would not ordinarily be a problem, as cell phones have been around for a long time. However, Professors are finding students that text during class extremely annoying and distracting. There are many professors that have rules in their classes that if they discover you texting someone else on your smart phone, you will have to leave the class or even take a lower grade. Such rules and regulations are becoming more common across the board, and if you do not want to pay the penalty, you will either have to keep your Samsung Captivate on silent mode or keep from using it or bringing it to class at all. The choice is up to you.
Finally, in addition to considering the pros and cons of using a smart phone such as the Samsung Captivate in school, consider purchasing some Samsung Captivate accessories such as a Samsung Captivate case or a Samsung Captivate screen protector to keep your phone working well as you meander about your college campus. If you are a student, you probably don’t have too much money, and as a result, it pays off to keep your phone protected in the long run, otherwise you would have to buy a new one if it accidently breaks.
